About The Tools Whale
A sea of useful tools.
The Tools Whale is a collection of file tools that run entirely in your web browser: redact, blur, upscale, convert, compress, transcribe. There is no upload button because there is no upload: the AI models are downloaded to your browser and all processing happens on your own machine.
Why it exists
Most online file tools work by sending your file to a server, processing it there, and sending the result back. That model asks you to trust a stranger with your driver’s licence scan, your medical letter, your home videos. Modern browsers can run real AI models locally, so we built the tools that way instead. Files that never travel cannot be leaked, breached or retained.
How it works
The site ships open-source models for text detection, face detection, speech recognition, upscaling and more, all of which your browser downloads once and caches. Processing runs on your device using your browser’s built-in compute. You can verify the no-upload claim yourself: open DevTools, watch the Network tab, and process a file. Every model is credited, with its licence, on the credits page.
What it costs
The tools are free, full quality, without watermarks or sign-ups. Because processing runs on your device, serving another user costs us almost nothing, so the site may show ads to cover hosting.
