Video Background

Runs entirely in your browser; nothing uploaded.

Replace or blur the background of a video without a green screen. The matte is computed frame by frame on your GPU and composited onto the background you choose. Browsers cannot export alpha video, so the tool offers exactly what they can do: replacement, not transparency.

How it works

  1. Drop a photo or clip, and the matte is computed on your GPU.
  2. Pick the subject model and the background: transparent, colour, image or blur.
  3. Download a PNG with real transparency, or a video with the background replaced.

Questions

Does my file get uploaded?
No. The models and all processing run inside your browser on your own device. You can verify this yourself: open your browser’s DevTools, watch the Network tab, and process a file: there are no uploads. After the first visit most tools also work fully offline.
Why are there two models?
The People model (26 MB) is tuned for portraits, handles hair well, and is fast enough for video. The Anything model (176 MB) handles products, animals and objects but is images-only. Both are downloaded once and cached.
Can a video have a transparent background?
No browser can export alpha video today, so video exports composite onto a colour, image or blur instead. That is a platform limit, not a missing feature: the tool does not offer what it cannot deliver.
